Common Core Math: Grade 2

In second grade, students build fluency with arithmetic, using place value to extend their knowledge of addition and subtraction to within one thousand. Students also develop a foundation for multiplication by counting groups of objects arranged in rectangular arrays. Students measure and compare lengths of objects in multiple units and display data with line plots and bar graphs. Students tell time to the nearest five minutes, count money in various denominations, identify shapes based on defining attributes and partition shapes into equal parts.
