Common Core Math: Grade 7: Ratios & Proportions

In seventh grade, students work with ratios and proportions in real-world contexts. Students identify proportional relationships by analyzing data represented numerically, graphically, algebraically or verbally. Students identify the unit rate (also called the constant of proportionality) of a proportional relationship and explain the meanings of data points in real-world contexts. With their understanding of proportionality, students solve a variety of problems involving ratios and percents in contexts such as interest, taxes, sale prices and tips.
